Crinan Defence Fleet: Battleships

I must have had an ancestor at Trafalga, because as soon as I had the chance to get a battleship I was rubbing my hand with glee.

Now there are two basic choices of battleship: gunship or carrier.  I have no interest in carrier tactics.  I rarely take more carriers than I need to give my fleet a rudimentary protection against enemy ships.

It's guns I like, the more the better - lances and batteries - and for a gunhead who likes to get up close to the enemy and pound out the broadsides then there's no other choice than the Retribution Class Battleship.

The Interfectus Est

I wanted this ship to look like it had been in combat: and cut a few holes in for battle damage, and painted on smoke stains along the sides.  I also gave it a thinned down scorched brown wash before the layers of highlighting to bring out the final smoke stains and also to give it a less 'clean' and more weathered look.

I wanted to alter the silhouette a little, and padded out the spine of the ship to make the battery sections stick out more.  Not really a major change, but when you see it in person it looks a little more substantial.

Quite a beast in battle.  I never get enough bfg games, and this hasn't had enough combats - but this is the warhorse of my battle line: getting into broadside range asap and then manoeuvring for as long as possible to stay there.  There's not much in the bfg universe that can take on a battleship like this and make it back to their home port.
